For those that don't know it, I'm a pretty avid NASCAR fan. I watched while Dale's father became one of the most loved and hated people in auto racing from his controvertial debut onto the racing scene. When Dale died, a piece of me died with him. And for several years, I couldn't watch NASCAR. This year, I was determined to start watching again and have watched every race I can in as much as I can...and I've come to really like Dale, Jr. He's become every bit as good as his dad once was and carries himself in a kingly way. But with some of the new up and comers, I've neither been typically hot or cold on any of them...until Kyle Busch.

First Snow in Maine

You know, the vast majority of Maine-iacs have lived here most of our lives. Point of fact, most people move AWAY from Maine, not to it. And for those that do seem to migrate up here, most of them are doing so from various other places in New England who are equally versed what winter in New England is all about. And for the rest, most of them are seasonal strap-hangers at best anyway who don't usually stay here for the winters. So why is it that with each new winter and its first snow fall, people seem to forget what winter is all about, and most specifically what driving in winter is all about???

!(*#@$&%^ Cars!!!

Cars have to be the bane of our existence. It seems that, next to computers, the singularly worst value in the world is the automobile. The love/hate relationship we maintain with our cars is equivalent to a stormy marriage in which the sex, when it’s good, is really good. But when it’s bad, you're screwed!
Yet we allow ourselves to become more attached to our car than any other possession we own. And like a fair weather friend, they seem to choose the most inopportune time to decide to leave us without their support. And still we allow for this as an acceptable variance in our relationship.
