This movie can only be described as an excercise in "let's take a really FANTASTIC concept and f*ck it up SO bad that NOBODY will want to get near it again for a decade. Instead of something fantastic, this qualifies as nothing more than disjointed, paper-thin bubblegum for the eyes.

There have been few remakes of the famous Wizard of Oz that I know of and most all of them have been good. This one was exceptional. While not exactly a "kid's" movie, or at least not without parental supervision, this takes the legendary movie in a direction different than it'd ever gone before, and not in a bad way.

Being a Dwayne Johnson (aka 'The Rock') fan, I really, REALLY tried to enjoy this movie. And where I thought perhaps when it first started rolling that it was some artists idea of adding perspective in the way they presented it, I found later on to be just plain poor filming.

Okay, this movie is going to take some time, energy and a measure of self control to review, I can see that coming...deep breath in, deep breath out...
Three words immediately come to mind where this film is concerned, "Oh...my...God". And that ain't a good thing, ladies and gentlemen. So sit tight and enjoy the aftermath.

A big monster movie that is best on the big screen, for sure, and I kind wish I'd seen it there. And as big monster movies go, this is probably one of the better ones I've seen, despite it's "Blair Witch" approach. However, I have some beefs with it...don't I always? It wouldn't be an Archie review if it didn't have a little bit of Archie b*tching going on. :)
